The Rendition Rules, as the name suggests, are rules applied to the profiles of content, whether VOD or LIVE, in order to control the availability of certain video qualities based on specific criteria.

To configure them, go to the Settings menu and select Rendition Rules (Admins Only). From there, you can create a new rule or edit an existing one. The configuration popup will allow you to:

  1. Assign a name to the rule.

  2. Define the application criteria (for example, enable 1080p quality only for a specific country). This can be configured directly in the Rules.

  3. These rules can be applied directly to Live Streams.

  4. To use them for VOD (Video On Demand), you must first create a category and associate the rule with it.

For Live content, the rule assignment is done from the stream's profile, in the section corresponding to Rendition Rules under the qualities to modify.

For VOD, simply assigning the category that contains the rule is enough for the configuration to become active.

With this configuration, and provided that the full qualities are available from the source, the user on the front-end will only be able to consume the qualities configured in the rule.
