As with VOD content management, platform supports AOD (Audio On Demand) content for the administration of podcast and/or digital audio archive categories for customers and/or end users.

The management of this type of content within the module is quite similar to that available for VOD, however, it has some differences that will be mentioned below.

Images

  • Thumbnails

Audio content, loaded manually or through the record, record schedule or live editor options, does not generate thumbnails automatically, once the AOD is generated, it will be available in the media module with the following property (depending on its origin)

The clip can be published or not; if you want to upload an associated thumbnail image, just click on the Images section in the AOD and upload the required image from your PC, the images should ideally be in 1:1 fixed ratio (square) format due to the fact that audio does not support the traditional 16:9 (rectangular) video format.

This image is activated as thumbnail within the module in platform and is associated to the playlist, embed and metadata provided, it does NOT correspond to the first emission image, this is configured in the Show>Season>Episode module.

Note: if the episodes are not configured in the show (option 1), the media will automatically assign the thumbnail image as the First Emision image.

  • Pictures:

This section is only available if the images module is active in the account, it is used to upload image type content to be associated with metadata, the images uploaded in this way, will later be available in the mentioned module and can be used in different platform contents, as opposed to thumbnail images, which are exclusive to the associated media.

Renditions

The available renditions are associated to the original quality of the audio uploaded to platform and the storage and transcoding quota commercially managed for such purpose, platform generates the renditions automatically once the upload of a media is started, the available renditions for AOD are: 32Kbps, 64Kbps, 128Kbps, 92Kbps and 256Kbps, it is recommended to upload media in a standard quality (128Kbps) with a minimum of 64kbps. Keep in mind that the renditions associated with the account are commercially processed according to each customer's needs.

Ad Markers

This option is active by default and is part of the Ads module integration, its function is to use the campaigns created in the platform as pre-roll, mid-roll and post-roll, the initial configuration is as follows:

  • Pre-roll and post-roll: They are active by default and all you have to do to make them work is add a campaign in the Advertising section,

if the embed or iframe is displayed, the selected campaign will load inside the AOD player, giving the option to close, additionally, the AOD content will not play until the campaign is closed or finished.

Note: VAST Pre and post roll must be configured within the selected campaign.

  • Midroll: above the audio player there is an Add AD marker button, if you click on it at a defined time in the AOD, it will be loaded immediately inside the section, indicating the selected time.

When the player embed or iframe is deployed, the campaign will be displayed at the established time, with the same closing options as pre and post roll, the original audio is stopped at that moment, the campaign must additionally have the mid-roll configured to work, otherwise it will not be deployed at the indicated time.

It is recommended to adjust the number of markers according to the total duration of the media AOD, considering the UI and not to load more than 3 mid-rolls per content.

Show

In this section, although the application of the media within a previously configured show is the same as VOD, it is important to note that the respective show must be a podcast, radio show or mixed show.

Renditions

According to the audio qualities configured in Settings>Media options, they are generated automatically when an audio is loaded.

To consider:

1. The audio clips whose beginning includes long silences for more than 2 seconds, will cause an error at the moment of transcoding, the media will load inside platform but it will not start the process.

2. The clips generated from live audio editor do not transcode and are rendered in platform as m4a files; the clips uploaded manually in mp3 format, transcode automatically in the selected qualities creating the renditions in mp3 and in m4a respectively (if you have the appropriate option).
